Connecting heritage sites to funding opportunities

An extensive research process involved us talking to heritage site owners and grant providers. We took the time to understand the tools and resources currently available to them, and the associated pain points. This helped us to map out the user journey, and spot any clear opportunities to improve the process. This mostly came in the form of improving the search experience, and ensuring applicants could easily understand the criteria before applying.

The research insights fed into an iterative design process.  We carefully the user interface considering the most helpful ways that applicants might filter and find suitable funding opportunities. Our aim was to connect organisations and funders with minimal friction, even if using the directory with mobile devices or assistive technologies.

The result is a highly useful tool within the heritage sector, that funders and grant recipients alike have been enthusiastic to start using. Our ongoing partnership with the Heritage Alliance means that we can continue to promote and expand this service within the heritage sector – responding to the evolving needs of our audience.
